Jama Simple Sleep Tracker

Privacy

Jama has no account and no server of its own, so there is nothing for me to collect.

What Jama stores

Your sleeps, naps, goal, schedules and settings are stored on your iPhone. Delete the app and they go with it, except sleeps saved to Apple Health, which stay there.

Jama has no iCloud sync. Like any app’s data, it is part of your iPhone’s own backups, which are yours.

What Jama sends

Nothing to me. Jama contains no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking, not even anonymous or aggregated counts, and there is no server of mine it could send anything to.

Apple gives every developer aggregate App Store figures such as installs and crash counts. Those come from Apple and are produced without the app sending anything.

Apple Health

Jama connects to Apple Health only if you allow it, and then only to sleep data. It reads the sleep an Apple Watch or another app saved there, and saves the sleeps and naps you log, with your edits and deletions.

Health data stays on your iPhone. It is never sent to me or to anyone else, and never used for advertising.

Your time awake

To suggest how long you were awake during a sleep, Jama notes when you used your phone, and reads when it was carried from Motion & Fitness, if you allow that. It uses no microphone, and all of this stays on your iPhone.

Alarms and reminders

Jama asks for permission to set alarms the first time you use one. The Bedtime Reminder is off until you switch it on, which asks for permission to send notifications. Both are scheduled on your iPhone and send nothing to me.

The subscription

The subscription and its free trial are handled by Apple. No payment details reach me, and the app never sees a card number.

Deleting your data

To remove everything from Jama, use Remove All Data in Settings. Sleeps saved to Apple Health stay there, and you can delete them in the Health app.

You can also back up or export your data to a file first, from Settings. That file is yours, and it works whether or not you have paid.

This website

This site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes the IP address of every visitor in order to serve the page and to protect the site from attack. That is the legitimate interest basis in Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, and it can involve a transfer to the United States under Cloudflare’s standard contractual clauses.

There are no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts on any page here.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to complain to a data protection authority. Your sleep data never reaches me, so none of this needs asking me: you can see, correct and export all of it in Jama on your iPhone, and delete it with Remove All Data.
